I purchased a camera from a EBay person in the US it was $29.00 + $7.50 S+H, total $36.50 The camera would not work with out a Memory Card. The add. stated it was working and there was nothing saying the card was not included, in the "Items Specifics" section there was a card included. I was told by the seller I would be refunded the cost $29.00 less S+H. To send it back with a tracking number, that is needed to prove it was returned, it cost $19.45. I called Pay Pal and I was told "All the charges would be refunded Plus all S+H (both ways). When it had been returned I was only credited the $29.00 cost. WAS I SOME MAD. I contacted EBay and was directed to Pay Pal. Pay Pal said that the policy was S+H was never returned to the purchaser. I then asked to talk to the manager and she (I think) went to the original recording of my conversion with their rep. and found that that is what I had been told. She then returned all the S+H and then said that the S+H is always the purchasers responsibility and it would never be returned to me again. So we need to watch how much the S+H is in order to get our money back. These people are able to sell FAULTY products by selling it FREE with only S+H charged. We need be careful of this kind of FRAUDULANT activity when purchasing and paying for the items that way. We are not protected from this kind of selling.

I've used Ebay for years having most transactions go with great results. The few bad transactions I've had have been remedied quickly and to my satisfaction. The last one was with a Buzz Lightyear action figure. The doll is for a 3 year old. My complaint was over poor workmanship of the figure, the wings do not retract and stay as they should. The doll was $42. and I would have taken it back to a local store if I had a similar compliant. The seller offered $20 off the price, I had to think would I buy this for $22. and I figured that was a price that I would pay knowing the defect, The 3 year old will love it anyway. This is just an example of the fairness of the site. To the seller above I would only sell to US buyers.

I have been using e-bay for over ten years and bought many items from different countries. I can only be honest and say my experience with e-bay have been 99.9% positive. I had one negative experience earlier on with the purchase of a laptop Computer from an individual who took the money and disappeared. After 30 days I was reimbursed every penny of the $700 I spent on the auction. There are many ways that a consumer is protected on e-bay. Square Trade, Paypal Escrow Bidding to mention a few plus dispute resolution and scam investigations. I find individuals on e-bay to be the same as the ordinary fellow like me, out to sell his item and not scam anyone. I practically rebuilt an old MGB car with parts bought on e-bay. I have bought musical instruments as well as selling items. I would recommend it to my Grandmother if she was into auctions ha ha

I was bidding on EBay up to $36.00 on a Shogun video set when just a few seconds before the time was up another bid came in. That was fine. So I started bidding on another set from the same company. The same thing happened. Then I got an e-mail from the company stating that the last bidder backed out (You're not allowed to as far as I understand). They offered the set to me at his las bid. Of course I said no. Then I saw another bidder bidding. So I e-mailer her and told her what had happened to me. She e-mailed me back after the bidding closed and said the same thing happened to her. I e-mailed EBay and told them what had happened. They said they would investigate. They e-mailed me back and said they had found no wrong-doing. That is the last time I ever bid or ever will bid on anything from eBay. The company whose merchandize I was bidding on had scammed me and her but eBay stood up for the company and not the bidder who was abiding by the rules. So eBay -- never again. Also I took the chance and sent cash to a company because I don't trust pay pal and the money "never reached its destination". Also one seller sent me a copy of a video instead of the original and threatened me with "If you give me a good rating I'll give you a good rating". I was not in the wrong. I got scammed.

I have used eBay for years. It is a company made up of individuals who auction goods. If you go through Paypal (the only way as far as I am concerned) you shouldn't have a problem. Ask the seller questions - check for their return policy - and really read the listing - all before you place your first bid. eBay even phoned me once, years ago, to make sure I was who I said I was. I apparently clicked on a bogus email and entered my log in info. Someone stole it and was using my account in Europe. eBay saw this and corrected it. I know that some bidders use bots to get the best deal - but I just put in my highest bid and wait. If I am outbid, so be it.
