1.  Introduction

We respect your privacy, and therefore we have provided this this privacy policy to let you know how we use the information that you provide us with as well as what you can do to opt out when applicable.  This policy is subject to change, and we will post any changes to this section of the site.  Your use of our Site is your acceptance of this agreement.

2.  Your Information

Certain parts of our site may ask you to provide information about yourself, such as an email, username, or website if applicable.  This information is known as “Personally Identifiable Information” (“PII”).  We will not share any of this information with anyone unless you choose to disclose it yourself in any post or content you provide, with our advertisers, or other parties for purposes of marketing. 

Non-Personally Identifiable Information may also be collected through your use of the Site. This may be done via our ISP and includes your IP address, other pages you may have visited, and the type of browser you use.  This information is used to help us in administer our site and provide services to you.  If you are in Germany or another Country that does not allow for the collection of this type of information you must inform us immediately or not use this Site. 

The above information does not include any information you provide about a company that you are making a complaint about.  In posting information about another company or another individual you need know that you may be subject to liability from them or others, especially if you post anything against our Terms. 

3.  Securing Your Account

In the event we provide the ability to create an account, you agree that you must never share your account information with any other person.  If your ScamAdvocates account or the e-mail account associated with your login, becomes compromised, you should immediately change the login details for both your e-mail and other accounts to secure your information

4.  Tracking Cookies

Our Site, like many others, uses cookies to store bits of information about your computer so that it can remember who you are and make page load times faster, amongst other things.  They also help us to understand how you interact with the Site, as well as what ads we should show you that would be the most relevant.  In order to target advertisements most effectively, we, or a third party, or both, may use cookies which enable us to better determine your preferences and show you relevant ads.

 

 

5.  Other information

We may collect information that you post on the site, and display that information on our site.  We have no ability to control how that information is used once it is posted, so be careful what you post.  We may also contact you via any email address that you provide to us for the purposes of any updates to the post, or if you initiate any correspondence with us for any reason.  This information is stored on our servers. 

6.  APIs and Links

ScamAdvocates may also offer you the ability to use APIs to interface with third party websites.  In addition, some posts may contain links to third party websites that we do not control.  It is your job to read and understand the privacy policies of those sites.  We cannot control the actions of these third party websites.  You agree to hold harmless and indemnify us for any damages arising from your use of these third party websites or links

7.  Commenting

ScamAdvocates may also offer the ability to post comments about vendors, businesses, and other subjects on our website.  When you post any comment, it is made available publicly.  There is no privacy when you post a comment, so do not post anything you do not want the world seeing.  We strongly recommend against posting your name, e-mail address, telephone number, Social Security Number, or any other information that you wouldn’t want people to know.

8.  Data Storage

We use reasonable security measures to protect your data and we share it to the extent that is authorized by this Privacy Policy or necessary to maintain our operations or for other legal use.  More specifically, but without limiting the generality of the foregoing, we use a third party to provide us with server space where our website and its users’ personal information are stored.  We may also need to bring in outside assistance to help us work on our site and they may have access to your personal information.

9.  Law Enforcement

We may choose to disclose your personal information if we believe it is reasonable to do so in order to protect persons or property, assist law enforcement in a bona fide investigation into allegations of illegal activity, or protect the rights of third parties, such as people whose intellectual property has been infringed on.  We may also release such information in the event in respond to legal requests or subpoenas.

10.  COPPA

We comply fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.  We do not allow any users under the age of thirteen to use our service.  However, if you become aware of the existence of a user who is under the age of thirteen, please contact us immediately with full details. If you have been reported as being below thirteen by another person, we may request a copy of your photo ID as a condition of your continued use of our service.

11.  California Online Privacy Protection Act

12.  Amendments

We may change our Privacy Policy from time to time.  Therefore, we encourage you to visit our “Privacy Policy” page frequently to ensure that you are aware of the current version in effect.  We may also e-mail you to notify of changes, though we are not required to do so.  The fact that you were not notified by e-mail of a change in the Privacy Policy will not affect the validity of that change, so you should be sure to check the Privacy Policy each time you visit our website.
